Student Council Ice Breaking Session

By Joanne Lim.

The Student Council of PTEK held an ice breaking session for 2 days, on the 18th and 19th of January. The ice breaking session emphasized on team building and its purpose was also to make the members more comfortable and to be able to open up to one another.

On the first day, they were asked to group up into pairs and draw a portrait of their partners on envelopes. The envelopes were then pasted on the lockers at the canteen area and the public was able to post notes into any of the envelopes. Some received heartfelt letters and some, encouraging letters. On the second day, they were teamed up into groups. The groups were named after animals. There was cat, goat, chicken and also duck. They had to go on a race with pit stops where they were asked to do some tasks to get signatures from the members in charge of the pit stops. The tasks were: to instruct a member from their group to make an egg sandwich blindfolded, to transfer peanuts by sucking on them with straws from one plate to another until it reaches the last member, to sing a song to be approved by the specific member in charge of the pit stop, to pass on a ring made up of newspaper  from one member to another using their arm and not their hands, to pass on an elastic band from one member to the other using a straw and to do a spin of 10 rounds and get themselves into a confined space within 10 seconds.

The group  'cat' collected all the signatures in the shortest amount of time was announced as the winner. It was overall a fun experience for the student council members.

Here are some pictures to share.
