One of the groups presenting their shout out
The Pulse of Katok would first like to congratulate the Cohort 1 students to have made it through the admission test into Pusat Tingkatan Enam Katok. PTEK welcomed the juniors by conducting a few games and "ice breaking" sessions during the orientation to give them a head start and make them feel welcomed and a whole lot more comfortable with their new environment.
The first half of the orientation began on the 5th January 2012 consisting of 90 students from many various schools within the Brunei-Muara District: Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin College, Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Hasan, Sekolah Menengah Menglait, Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri, Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Husain, Sekolah Seri Mulia Sarjana, Sekolah Menengah Chung Hwa, Sekolah Menengah Rimba, Sekolah Menengah Masin, Sekolah Menengah Jamalul Alam, St. Andrew's School and also St. George's School.
The lecturers of Pusat Tingkatan Enam Katok along with the aid of the faithful Student Council Members conducted the "Silent Action" game in which a group of students were given 10 words from the back to be passed on from one person to another under a limited time to relay the action. The person standing right in front of each group then had to figure out what the actions meant. The group with the highest number of correct answers were announced as the winners.
The next game was a Fashion Show where each group was a given a few things such as plastic bags, news papers, strings, tapes and so on. They were to use any of these things to create their desired attire under a limited amount of time. Kings and Queens were then elected from each group to present themselves wearing the attire in front of the other groups along with their confident 'cat walk' and a few poses for the camera. The game was then fairly judged by the lecturers.
Prizes were then awarded to the winning groups: '3 Minutes To Infinity' who walked away for being the most supportive group and also for winning the 'Silent Action' game and 'Pengayuh' who walked away for winning the Fashion Show. It was also fortunate for the other groups to be given consolation prizes for their cooperation and effort in playing the games. The day ended with a cheerful trademark shout out from each group and a few words of thanks from the Student Council President, Bibi Amadah.
