An impressive 50 calves and at least 3 human beings have had their natural heart replaced by artificial heart that pumps blood at 10,000RPM (revolution per minute). Heart as we know it, pumps blood in pulse hence the lub-dub sound. With the pump, the heartbeats will sound like a ‘dentist’s drill or the underwater whine of an outboard motor’ instead. That means that, anyone who received the artificial heart will have no pulse because blood will flow continuously instead of moving in pulses and also, a straight line will be shown on a heart rate monitor.
