Debate Part 1

GOING THROUGH THE PRELIMINARY ROUND.

Katok Sixth Form Centre’s Debate team consists of:
The main team:
*Jarrod Sim BE 8,
*Julius Hong BE 7, and
*Yusof Fadli AE 24
The reserves:
*Azeemah AE 3,
*Izzati BE 7, and
*Arafat BE 19

On the 6th of April, the debate team left school ground at 9 a.m along with the teachers in-charge to go to Sayyidina Ali Secondary School in Kuala Belait. After going in for registration, the team stayed there until six in the evening going through a mock debate with each and every other schools’ debate team.

The debate teams were put into two groups;
group 1 consisted of debate team from PTE Meragang, SMSA B, Sekolah Menengah Arab Laki-Laki and Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Othman whereas PTEK, Maktab Duli, Maktab Sains and SMSA A presented group
2. Our debate team’s 1st debate was against Maktab Sains. PTEK as the opposition and won that round. PTEK, again as the opposition met Maktab Duli’s debate team in their

2nd round debating the topic “This house believes that reality Tv shows should be banned.” but alas PTEK lost.
Their 3rd round of debate was against SMSA A with the topic “This house believes that gossip is acceptable.”. PTEK held the role of opposition in this round too and won but apparently the debate between PTEK and SMSA A was put to a hold and continued the next day, which was on the 7th of April.

On that day, the team left school during break time and finished off their debate against SMSA A and waited for the announcement of which schools were going to the semi-finals -from Group 1, PTE Meragang and Sekolah Sayyidina Othman and from group 2 were Maktab Duli And PTEK.

To sum up the event that day, each debate team was given the knowledge of what topic they were going to debate on during the semi-final, who were they against and the venue of where the semi-final would be held. PTEK was going to go up against PTE Meragang and were given the role to oppose to the topic “This house believes that media abuses its power.”

Always and Forever

Crying; as I was,
Heed the melody of your life,
Having the thought of you,
Felt like standing with a leg; as I was.

As the melody sways,
Between my heart and my mind,
I swerved afar to the golden skies,
And the thought of you came once again.

The golden skies I’m trying to reach,
The serenity I’m looking in,
This moment, one goal,
Yet, still in my mind to stay me alive.

Time has not given a single space,
An exploration of the nights and the skies could say,
Ending up nothing less like a rainbow,
But a thunder rain storms.

With the stars above,
Counting endlessly; faithfully,
For a better rainbowed space,
To end literal solitaries.

For I am here,
To never turn on your back,
For you are,
Always and forever here in my heart.

don't go away

Please don’t go away,
I couldn’t live another day,
Without you by my side,
To lock your arms around me tight.

Please don’t go,
I couldn’t bear the sight of being alone,
Without you to fly high,
To go beyond through the sky.

Please don’t go away,
I will be there always,
And forever I will,
To carry you to the highest hill.

Hope

Hope
When all about you is black with gloom,
And all you feel is pending doom,
When your bones are racked with grim despair,
When every breath is a gasp for air,
Keep on going, though you need to grope,
For around the bend is a ray of hope.

A ray of hope is perhaps all that’s left,
As your will to live has been bereft,
You’ve lost it all, it’s just no use!
You can end it all, you need no excuse,
But throw awaythat piece of rope,
And give yourself a chance of hope.

Just give yourself another day,
Brushing aside what your thoughts may say,
This is your life and you can make a new start,
By ignoring the brain- just follow the heart,
Taking baby steps in order to cope,
And minute by minute you’ll build on your hope.

Build on your hope, one day at a time,
Though the road be steep and hard to climb,
The hurt of the past- they should be dead,
The fears of the future are all in your head,
Just live in the present and refuse to mope,
Your life will sparkle for you’re living in hope
.
